Perks at work - people
One of the big perks of working in technology is the amazing people who you work with. I’ve been privileged to work with amazing people, great leaders, and technological masterminds.
Yup, I just copy-pasted that from a job description, between the competitive salary and innovative culture.
In other words, because of my competitive mindset, I’ve worked with people who made me question whether I really graduated from elementary school. A few brilliant minds induced me to think that I am the last living Neanderthal, bringing my tools made of stone and brutality to the team. And a handful of leaders inspired me to relate with Michael Scott in regards of my leadership skills.
But then there’s the other end of the people in technology. There are the ones who need constant attention and support. Some never stop talking but at the same time they never start doing. Others need confirmation and praise. And the ones who need to be watched constantly, to prevent them from pressing the red button.
Yes, normal people work in technology, too. That’s reality. There are a few superheroes, surely, in technology, who make leaps of evolution all by themselves. But most of the time, a team of normal human beings can excel by collaborating, creating something great and learning from each other.
And sometimes we just need a Jerry in the team.
